Another successful

Wine Tasting & Food Pairing Fundraiser

has come and gone.

Thanks to the efforts of a lot of people

As to what we actually made to do good both locally and internationally, we hope to have that figure next Rotary meeting, once all expenses have been submitted to Treasurer Neil.

In the meantime, visit the website at hydeparkrotary.org , click on Photos and then select the Italian flag to see all of the wonderful photos Myung-Joon Kang took throughout the evening. Han Jung had them posted by Monday. Bravo!

West Haven did not disappoint. The Auction Room was ready for us to set up on Saturday morning, under the guidance of Wendy Jennings. The dining room overlooking the course was stunning... as usual. As always Jennifer ensured that sufficient wait staff was working our event. The speed with which the different courses get to the tables is so important with an event that pairs wine with food and West Haven certainly gets an A+.  Everyone commented on how good the food was and how beautifully it was presented. More than one person gushed how the tiramisu was the best ever tasted. Kudos to Executive Chef Darrell.

The evening progressed smoothly, as guests were warmly greeted by Assistant DG Sue Storie and her husband at the front door and Past President Liilian Reid at the back. John McDonald once again kept the evening moving in his role as MC and of course, there would be no Wine Tasting without the guidance of our wine tasting leader Malcolm Cocks. I am always impressed with the fact that wine paired with the appropriate food always seems to taste better. Darrell, did it again. Everyone commented on how good the food was and how beautifully it was presented. Two thumbs up!!! Wasn’t Rocco Cifaldi a treat! He entertained us in both English and Italian. Thanks also goes out to Donna Spence, who looked after sewing the red sashes for our gondolier committee members.

All of the beautiful silent auction packages donated by our generous donors and compiled by Lillian and her helpers, sold. Payment was efficiently handled by Diane Knoppert and Richard Raston. You could tell that Sheldon Hines was having a good time auctioning off the live auction Fiat Spyder, Maserati and commissioned painting.

Madison Vergeer and Richard Raston sold our raffle tickets to guests. The draw took place at the end of the evening by President David. The successful first prize winners of the Toronto Entertainment Package, valued at $1000 were Beth Cormier & Pete Chiacchia of London.  The winner of the second London Entertainment package, valued at $200 was T Fratscko also of London-Erich’s mother. Congratulations! Thank you to Cambridge Suites Toronto, Mirvish Theatre, Toronto, Jeans ’n Classics London and Villa Cornelia London for their donations to our raffle to support local approved projects of the Rotary Club of London-Hyde Park-including our highly successful dictionary project.

Our sponsors are the best. Not only do they help us with their donations of money and services, but many also attend our event. Thank you CEMSI-Henry Vergeer,

PS Thank you for the gorgeous flowers.
They were so unexpected. I am but one person on a committee of 9 consisting of Malcolm, Lillian, Doug, Richard, Sue, Madison, John and Wendy with help from other members of the club. Barb
