Breakfast with Carmi: Demystifying Social Media
Steve Teske, incoming RCLHP President; Carmi Levy; Donna Szpakowski, President of HPBA
Over 50 members and guests packed the meeting room at West Haven Golf and Country Club for a hot breakfast and to hear Carmi Levy speak about the importance of Social Media as a business and personal communication tool.  His interactive presentation was both enjoyable and informative.

Carmi emphasized that while having a social media presence is important for businesses it is critical for the business to integrate social media into its other, more traditional, communication channels to avoid ignoring those customers who may not use social media.  It is also important to also integrate social media postings and viewing into regular business practices as a business can be judged negatively if its social media channel(s) haven't been updated for a few weeks or months.

Carmi asked if there was anyone in the audience who don't use social media and why not?  The responses ranged from:  Timewaster; nothing of value; to fear of being stalked.  He recommended that rather than avoid social media learn to filter the data (most social media platforms have filters) so you aren't overloaded with what you consider useless information.
