Community Volunteer Income Tax Program ( CVITP )
Venue & Time
The CVITP was introduced in 1971 as a partnership between the Department of National Revenue (as it was known then) and various community organizations. It was intended to ensure that all taxpayers had equal access to the tax system.
The CVITP is a source of pride for the CRA.
Each year, together with many volunteers and community organizations, we help many Canadians file their tax returns.
Canada wide, in 2018, over 765 000 returns were filed by over 18 000 volunteers at 2500 CVITP clinics.
The CRA provides training, tax software, and a network of CVITP coordinators across the country to help the community organizations and volunteers deliver the program.
Rotary  Club of London Hyde Park Involvement
The Rotary Club of London Hyde Park has sponsored a CVITP clinic at the Sherwood Library in Sherwood Mall on Wonderland North for the past three years.
The Club members act as greeters for the clinic ensuring that clients are dealt with in an pleasant orderly manner on a first come, first served basis.
The Rotary Club members who have been involved have enjoyed interacting with the members of community and appreciate the fact, as acknowledged by our clients, that this community service is highly valued by the tax payers who are eligible to use this service.
