Celebrating Canada's 150th & TRF"s 100th Birthday
On Saturday, June 3rd our club joined the Hyde Park Business Association's community celebration by providing a huge birthday cake for 250 people.  The community celebration focus is around the unveiling of the outdoor community piano, painted by local high school students, to be used by anyone in the community.  The date was chosen to coincide with the global "100In1Day" community celebration. This year's theme was Canada's 150th birthday and the students did a marvelous job painting the piano.  The community event included music by "The Young at Heart" choral group and Pearson School of the Arts; presentations by Mayor Matt Brown; London West MPP Peggy Sattler; and, Ward 7 Councilor Josh Morgan.  In addition to the cake Kelsey's restaurant and Ivanopoblano (organic Mexican food) provided fresh cooked food.  The North West London Resource Centre gave out free samples of ice cream from "The Scoop", located on Gainsborough Road.  To entertain the children - young and old - Phil Arnold put on an amazing "Punch & Judy" puppet show and the fire department stopped by with one of their trucks.
